Developers have gotten planning approval for a huge new residential community near Lake Ray Hubbard.
The project near Forney will have more than 1,000 homes on property on FM 548 north of U.S. Highway 80.
Called Walden Pond West, the new subdivision is a project of Harlan Properties working with Barraza Consulting Group LLC.
Plans for the new community just approved by Dallas’ plan commission include several large residential districts surrounding a large, open greenbelt space.
“We are moving forward with construction plan preparation and securing construction permits,” said Art Barraza of Barraza Consulting Group.
The new residential project is in an area that is already seeing a surge of homebuilding activity. Several large residential communities are being developed in the area east of Dallas in Kaufman and Rockwall counties.
Forney has been one of one of North Texas’ top markets for home starts during the last couple of years.
The just-approved Walden Pond West community is in within Dallas’ city limits in an area that surrounds Lake Ray Hubbard.
